She blessed the world with a ‘Superstar’ And the world is blessed to have her as a ‘Star’ She is SUSANNA, the Star of a Star, shining as a beacon in the lives of many. ‘The Star of a Star’, a Poetry Collection, depicts the challenging and remarkable journey of Mary Susanna Turcotte from London, United Kingdom, to the remote villages of Madurai District in Tamil Nadu, India. She came to India with her husband, Jesse Joseph Tincher, and engaged in relief work following the deadliest Tsunami in 2004, and later engaged in combating female foeticide/infanticide, providing education to poor children, upliftment of the weak and distressed, and finally became the ‘Paati’ (Grandmother) of numerous villagers. Mary Susanna Turcotte made a lifelong promise to shine like a star in the lives of the poor and distressed.
‘The Star of a Star’ is a profound testament to the power of compassion, kindness, and the sacrifice of Mary Susanna Turcotte. It showcases her thoughts, anxieties, and the process of growth to success, one after another, as a reflection of her life. The poems reveal her unbroken spirit that changed societal perceptions and crossed cultural divides. As readers turn the pages, they will witness how one person’s decision to answer an inner call can transform communities, restore hope, and inspire generations.
